TGIF.

You know, I'm a pretty jaded, cynical bastard.

But this headline/story threw me for a loop:
3 accused of using corpse head to smoke pot

Yikes.

Anyway, I'm fully off the politics (OK, I may dance on Hillary's grave once she is finally defeated) and 100% back on the gambling and tasty poker goodness.

Expect much more henceforth.

NYC & Poker Bloggers

Has it really been three days since I returned?

Recovery took a long time.

But it was just what I needed. An epic trip. And to NYC of all places.

The City That Never Sleeps.
The Big Apple.
Gotham.

Understatements, every one of them.

Having Dr. Pauly, Joaquin and Derek as tour guides?

Priceless.

Per always, I can't do a trip report like this justice, so I won't even try. Besides, Pauly already stuck up his fine two-parter over at the Tao of Pauly.

So a huge thanks to the above NYC locals who took care of me and my boy, GMoney. And I can't thank Joaquin enough for his hospitality in giving us a place to crash. That's above and beyond.

It was cool staying in Spanish Harlem. Our first morning there, Joaquin had to head into work in the AM, so soon after GMoney and I awoke, we began walking.

We ended up going through a very sketchy area and I still recall the young black guy who walked past us on the sidewalk, saying loudly in a sing-song voice, "I smell bacon!"

It's pretty funny to be taken as a cop in NYC. Poor read.

The mighty STB stayed at Joaquin's as well, and being his first trip to the Big City, helped me feel like less of a rube. Another local, FTrain popped in on Saturday and it was good to talk to him before he takes off for his new adventure. Bobby Bracelet was there for a few days, providing much hilarity. I'd link him up but I lost his new damn blog addy. Don't blame me, it's like his 5th new web address.

And so I turn 41 tomorrow. And I can't think of a better way to celebrate my accelerating old age and dementia by heading to NYC for some serious shenanigans with friends.

It's funny to look back a few years ago when Pauly and Daddy came in to Cincinnati for the first time to hang out, play lots of poker and drink. And drink some more.

I had forgotten about this:
