TGIF, indeed.

Insanity. Again, I'm speechless.

First off, I saw a blurb about me and this humble poker blog at pokernews.com.

And then I went to read UpForPoker.

Only one thing to say . . .

Oh The Humanity.

"What's real is the people behind the blogs. What's real is the friendship I share with those people. It's the admiration for talent. It's pulling someone out of a hole. It's talking someone down from life-tilt. It's sharing secrets that you know will never show up in a blog post.

Yeah, this universe isn't real. The past two years of this life have been, on one hand, a drunkard's dream in which we created and buried gods of blogging. The past two years have been a process of trading real and virtual dollars over real and virtual felt. On its face, it's an experiment that twenty years from now will be like a childhood summer when the sky was always blue, the thermometer always read 82 degrees, and your bike chain never fell off."

Thank God for Otis. When words fail me, I have him around to sum it up perfectly. Thank you, Sir.

Admiration for talent, indeed.

First off, I want to thank each and every one of you who wrote about Guinness and Poker, and more importantly, everyone and anyone who came here to read about our beloved game of poker. You're the reason I blogged my ass off for over three years.

It would be too easy to get sappy here, so I won't.

I think I want to quote an old friend who blogged this about me:

Iggy the Blogfather, who is to the poker blogging community what Timothy Leary was to the counterculture movement — simultaneously its biggest cheerleader and its most enthusiastic participant.

That about sums it up, even though I've always thought of myself as the Johnny Appleseed of poker bloggers.

Stay tuned for more - I'm almost there. Just another day or two.

So here's the links to the fine folks who took time to write about Guinness and Poker. It's funny, I kinda feel like I'm getting a lifetime achievement award. And thanks for the emails - I'm gonna keep those for myself.

In no particular order:
Go read NOW!

"Using tactics that equate to blog reader waterboarding, Iggy is putting his dwarfish life at risk. The Negreanu-esque “I have such great news that I can’t tell you about” approach has me this close to posting a picture of the Iggster, in the off chance a reader on the street might pummel him."
Amy

Too damn funny.

Rumors are swirling that this humble poker blog has run its course.
Let’s just call it a definite hiatus for now.

How do I possibly write a goodbye post after all this time?

Can someone else do it?

I’m just thinking out loud here. A wake, a celebration of sorts, might be in order. A requiem for a blog, such as it is. Want to write my goodbye post? An epitaph? A review of G&P? A parody? Every angle is fair game.

FYI disclaimer: Guinness and Poker may be taking a long nap but Iggy ain’t leaving.

Whew, thanks for the feedback via emails. Keep it coming.

Al Can't Hang just put up a fantastic G&P obituary post. Go read it NOW!
