WSOP Madness Begins

Geepers, it seems like every freaking poker blogger out there has a gig writing/reporting at the WSOP these days. We've sure came a long way. Hell, I can't even hardly even keep up with who is writing where this year.

And so the 2008 WSOP begins in about 30 minutes. I'm still having that inner debate over whether to make a trip or two to play a few events this summer.

It would be an easier decision if I was on a roll, playing tons of poker, but alas, I'm not. Worst of all, tournament poker is not even on my radar.

I guess it would be pretty easy to climb back in the ring and get in fighting shape.

Or hell, maybe I'll celebrate the opening of the WSOP by trying to get some folks to play some NL blogger tables tonite. Ping me early tonite if you're interested.

Lord, I've got poker on the brain right now.

Quick segue -- this whole new media thing sure is fun. I was reading an article about Prince covering Radiohead in concert and then consequently blocking all the videos. That's weird, considering he doesn't own the damn song:

After word spread that Prince covered Radiohead's "Creep" at Coachella, the tens of thousands who couldn't be there ran to YouTube for a peek. Everyone was quickly denied - even Radiohead. In a recent interview, Thom Yorke said he heard about Prince's performance from a text message and thought it was "hilarious."

Yorke laughed when his bandmate, guitarist Ed O'Brien, said the blocking had prevented him from seeing Prince's version of their song. "Really? He's blocked it?" asked Yorke, who figured it was their song to block or not. "Surely we should block it. Hang on a moment." Yorke added: "Well, tell him to unblock it. It's our song."

Same old interesting questions about copyright and digital ownership, et al, that I don't have the time to analyze right now.

Hell, there's some people out there that argue that Google is one big scraper.

This is pretty damn interesting. From Wired ala Office Space:
Man Allegedly Bilks E-trade, Schwab of $50,000 by Collecting Lots of Free 'Micro-Deposits'

Oh my, lots of stuff going on.

For now, video of the day, compliments of ScottMc:

Sweet, sweet Monday morning.

A friend told me about the FAA banning their pilots from taking Chantix, the drug I'm currently taking to attempt to quit smoking. Wow, that's pretty uncool.

And then I saw this article from the LA Times: Drug taken to stop smoking is linked to traffic mishaps.

Good grief.

I guess good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.
